Holiday Bucket List

Hi everyone! Today’s Blogmas post is all about my bucket list for the holidays! I love doing fun wintery things in the city, with friends, and then some! So, here’s a fun list of things I want to get done during this holiday season!

  1. Finish Christmas Shopping: I have a few more to buy but the bulk is done!!
  2. See the Christmas trees at the Museum of Science and Industry: We used to do this almost every year but haven’t in a while and it is such a cool thing. You get to experience Christmases from all over the world
  3. Celebrate my friend’s 21st birthday!!!
  4. Drive around and look at Christmas decorations: There is one road I drive on a lot that millionaires (owner of Portillos) live on and they have the most extravagant Christmas displays. Such a beautiful thing to marvel at.
  5. See the Macy’s tree and windows: I know so many people go to Macy’s in the winter to admire the Christmas windows and the Christmas tree in the nutcracker room but I have never done this and have always wanted to.
  6. Go to Wisconsin for the weekend
  7. Put up the Christmas tree
  8. Have a Christmas movie night: Including but not limited to: Fred Claus, Elf, Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town
  9. Go sledding
  10. Read some good books with some wintery drinks: I have been slacking with reading and just need a cozy environment and some hot chocolate to get back into the groove of things
  11. See all of my friends while they are home on break
  12. Dress up on Christmas: You’re typically lucky to get me in jeans on any given holiday
  13. Do a winter photo shoot: Going to city with super cute clothes, snow, and holiday lights… what else should I be doing?
  14. Try to take a family photo… key word is try: My sister hates smiling, my mom can’t open her eyes and I give my dad the side-eye every time he tries to be funny… 100 attempts and still nothing worthy of sending to our 100 closest friends.
  15. Shovel some now: It’s good exercise and it’ll be nice if I do it so my dad doesn’t have to wake up early to shovel every morning
  16. Build a snowman
  17. Eat a candy cane: I used to eat them all the time but I haven’t had one in a while and I feel like the holidays can’t start until I have sharpened my candy cane to a weapon a mouth destruction
  18. Make Christmas cookies: Vegan ones of course
  19. Build a gingerbread house: They are super fun to make but I always ended throwing mine away because… I hate ginger.
  20. Spend some quality time with my loved ones while I am home

There’s my list… what’s yours???

My Christmas wish list

Hi everyone, and welcome to my next day of Blogmas… my Christmas List. Making a wish list is always hard for me because I usually don’t need/want a lot of things, however, I was able to come up with a few things that would be amazing to have, a few pertaining to my time at school.

  1. A Keurig- My roommate and I drink a ton of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate and we both agreed how nice it would be to have a Keurig next semester to spend less. This will be super cool to have next semester and also during the rest of my time at school 🙂
  2. Avocado huggers- Okay these may sound stupid but they’re actually genius. I love avocados and sometimes I don’t need/want a whole one but I have to anyways because they rot so quickly once sliced open. These huggers are placed on the avocado to help stay ripe longer
  3. A Himalayan Salt Lamp- I just think these are super cool and they’re supposedly good improving sleep, aiding in asthma and allergy symptoms, and increasing serotonin levels in the brain all of which I could use!!
  4.  Eat, Pray Love- this bad boy was on my list last year and I didn’t get it so I decided to ask for it again because I really hope to read it because everyone tells me I am similar to the main character 🙂
  5. Some sort of Lush gift set- Getting anything from lush makes my Christmas and the cute gift sets are even better! I love trying all of their festive winter products and getting other products I have loved for ages

That’s all for my wishlist… What’s on yours??

The Christmas Tag

Hi everyone and welcome to Blogmas Day 3! I did a Christmas tag last year as well and wantd to do another one this year!!! I’m going to tag everyone participating in Blogmas to do it as well!! If you aren’t and want to participate as well… Please do!!!!

  1. When do you put your Christmas tree up? Take it down? We try to get it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I don’t think my family has put it up but I’m honestly not sure… We take it down New Year’s Day or the weekend following.
  2. What is your tree topper? We have an angel on top of our tree but none of us are religious? I want to put a star on top of it and will have a star on my own one day
  3. Is your tree real or synthetic? Synthetic. It;s just so much easier, cheaper, and les messy
  4. Favorite Christmas Scent? Peppermint or cinnamon
  5. Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen and do you recall the most famous reindeer of all Rudolph
  6. When did you stop believing in Christmas? My neighbor ruined it for me in 5th grade I believe but I believed for another year or so
  7. White lights or colored lights? I think white lights are really classy but I love colored lights and my house is always littered in colored lights!
  8. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Morning? Both. I go to 5 Christmas parties over the span of 3 days so we are constantly opening gifts
  9. Have you ever had a white Christmas? Typically yes but sometimes no
  10. Are your wrapping skills pinterest worthy or “Let’s use a giftbag” worthy?” Okie dokie folks. When it comes to like clothes boxes or normally shaped presents I can wrap like no other… but when it comes to like kids toys that are neither rectangular or fit into rectangular spaces.. Put it in a giftbag.
  11. All time favorite Christmas Song? Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You.” It is such a jam and you can find me singing it at any point of the entire year. I’m also a huge fan of “You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch”
  12. Have you ever made a snowman? Of course I have. They are so annoyingly hard though. Like you make the bottom and you’re like “Ok.. I’m done.. Oh wait, I have to make two more of those things.” Plus I could never find accessories for him/her despite knowing we have like 30 pairs of gloves hidden in my house that we never use.

If you end up doing this tag, tag me  so I can see your answers!!!!

December Goals

Another one of my famous “Goals I don’t complete” posts… WHOOPS. Anyways, here are my goals for December. Let me know yours too!

  1. Post Daily- Whether that means writing 5 posts the weekend before or staying up later to post I’m going to try my hardest to post daily!
  2. Get a 3.5 GPA or higher- I’m not sure if I will know whether or not this happened in December but all my hard working towards this will happen in December
  3. Finish Christmas shopping- I still have my mom and a couple friends but I’m doing good
  4. Try not to be a hermit- I want to go and do things with friends and family but whenever I go home I just like to curl up into a blanket burrito and sleep
  5. Stay hydrous- Drink water girlfriend!! This is always a goal but it is always so important soooooo

Until tomorrow

I’m doing Blogmas… A day late

Hi all, long time no talk. November was by far the busiest month of my life. I will have a bit of a life update post in the coming days but I wanted to announce that I will be doing  Blogmas again!! I am going to try my hardest to post each day but with finals and one of my friends staying at my house for a week it may not happen… bear with me.

I’m going to start Blogmas off with my 5 favorite Christmas memories because I need some good vibes after the past few weeks I have had and the next 2 weeks that are to come. I don’t think I did this one last year… but if I did… I don’t care haha I love Christmas and Christmas always makes me nostalgic so I love reminiscing about past holidays

  1. Christmas 2007 was sort of a coming of age memory for me. In my family, we have a tradition where on holidays (mainly Christmas because my aunt is in town) we play a  card game called “Hate, Malice, and Spite” and 2007 is the year I was finally allowed to learn to play.  My aunt told me I had to be double digits to learn due to the family tradition but it was an
    Seeing friends Christmas 2015

exception for me because she thought my competitiveness would suck all the fun right out of the game… I think it makes the game more fun but who am I to judge?

  2. Christmas 2013 was a personal favorite of mine because I got to attend my first every ugly Christmas sweater party. After years of seeing them in movies and TV shows, I was finally able to make that dream of wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. This very night also started the demise of one of my closest friendships but that is a story for another day.
  3. Christmas 2014 was also a very memorable Christmas… haha. Every year my aunt sends me pictures of the ugliest Christmas sweaters she can find and they’re always accompanied with “Merry Christmas.”Well… that message has never been true until my aunt and uncle spent multiple hours handcrafting
    My homemade Christmas Sweater!!!

their own ugly Christmas sweater just for me

  4. 2 years ago was such a fun Christmas. I loved coming home to see all of my friends and family I hadn’t seen since leaving for San Diego. It was also great to come home and relax post-finals (something I can’t wait to do in 2 weeks as well) and just catch up with everyone I hadn’t seen or spoken to in a while
  5. Last year was sort of terrible BUT I got a gallon of soy sauce (don’t ask) and a Shrek Christmas sweater so if that doesn’t make it at least a memorable Christmas… I don’t know what will

Those are my favorite Christmas memories. What are yours??

Also if you’re also participating in Blogmas… Let me know so I can follow along on all of your posts as well!!!!

Until tomorrow, hopefully

Hello August

Happy August everyone. At the beginning of every month, I always see people making goal posts. I always make goals (small and large) at the beginning of each week, month, etc. so I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and post them here.

  • Finish dorm/school supply shopping
  • Read 2-3 books
  • Develop a workout plan for school
  • Do not spend any money unless absolutely necessary
  • Drink 64 oz of water minimum daily
  • Blog 10 times
  • Pack!
  • Spend time with friends before we go back to school.
  • Deep clean my room (my dog sheds so much everywhere so I needs to clean every square inch of my room)
  • Move into my dorm
  • Have a great first week of classes
  • Join at least 2 clubs

What are your goals for August?

Frustrated

This has been a word that has taken up a big part of my vocabulary recently, and for more reasons than one, some which I’d rather not admit.

The reason I’ve chosen this word out of any other is because in all of many babysitting gigs that I have, the one thing that I’ve learned it’s that children get angry and throw tantrums because they are frustrated.

They are frustrated because they think they aren’t being listened to or aren’t being understood or for a variety of other reasons.

This summer I have found myself relating to a 3 year old more than I’d like to. What Ella can get accomplished in kicking and screaming, I cannot. That in itself is frustrating

When I was in Peru, I was happy, generally happy, and that is something I haven’t felt in a while. Since returning from Peru, I haven’t felt happy whatsoever. That is frustrating.

My family adopted a dog (more on that later) and I’m virtually the only one who cares for her. I feed her every day, take her out every other hour, play with her, make sure she takes her pills, everything. My mom pays for it yeah, but that’s the easy part. My dad usually takes her out before he goes to bed and my sister only takes her out if no one else is home. I love my dog but she isn’t ‘my dog’ and when I call her mine everyone gets pissed off but when I say  that I’m the only one who takes care of her, everyone still gets pissed off. That is frustrating.

My dog has heartworm. If she gets too excited or excited at all really, she could die, and no one seems to care. That is frustrating.

I had secured a job paying $18 an hour (I would have made $4000 by the time I went back to school)  for the next 6 weeks and then it was taken right out from under my feet. That is frustrating.

My sister has some mental stuff going on and is getting treated for it (I’m not saying that’s bad at all, yay for getting help) but my parents seem to only care about her and not me whatsoever. No matter what I do or say nothing matters except my sister. They get mad at me for speaking my mind or for things I didn’t do. That is frustrating.

After writing all of these things down on virtual paper, they seem so miniscule, but as I sit here with damp cheeks it’s so freeing to get everything out.

Well, I have to go make my bed on the kitchen floor (also more about that later) so here’s to blotchy cheeks and bad backs.

19

A year ago, I posted something about how turning 19 was irrelevant. That the 19th revolution around the sun was a pointless one separating the enticing year of becoming an adult  and getting out of your teenage years.

If a year ago I told you that 19 would have been the best year of my life so far, I would have laughed in your face. But here I am, a whole year later, reflecting on my 19th year on this earth.

A year ago I thought I would be attending Arizona State University, majoring in chemical engineering, and living with my aunt.

But here I am, after taking a gap year, getting ready to start school at Ohio University, going to school for secondary education.

This year I did a lot of things, but if there’s one thing I did that I’m most proud of, it’s making my own decisions. I had always been a go with the flow kind of girl, always trying to please. In July, however, I made a tremendous decision to not return to school in the fall, something that  recieved a bit of backlash for, people saying I would never return to college after my break. After I chose to take a break, I was able to leave a toxic job that I wasn’t comfortable with. Normally I would’ve continued with both of these things because that’s what was expected of me, but I did what was right for me and that alone made my entire year.

After convincing my entire family, I was able to volunteer in Peru for over a month, working in an orphanage with some of the cutest babies I had ever seen, and travelling and marvelling at the country as a whole.

This year for me has been the best so far, and I hope it only goes up from here. Now, as I continue to get ready for a new school and a new year, I hope you all continue to live life as I am, pulchritudinously.

Also Happy Birthday to me !

Blogger Recognition Award

Hi everyone. The other day, Kate, nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. Thank you so much to Kate for this nomination. I would definitely recommend everyone goes and checks out her blog. Let’s get started with the award.

Rules

* Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

* Give a brief story of how your blog started.

* Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

* Select 10 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

* Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

How I started blogging

I have been blogging since I was 14. I stumbled upon someone’s summer bucket list blog and I decided that I wanted to make one as well. So, that summer and the summer after, my friend Molly and I made a summer bucket list blog. We are no longer friends, however, I wanted to continue blogging so I have made a few blogs over my lifetime to continue blogging, mainly just random writings and a bit of food tracking. However, last October, I decided that I wanted to document my time in college so that’s how I started this blog 🙂

Advice

  1. Write about what you want- This one may seem pretty self-explanatory, however, it may not be. With so many lifestyle blogs about fashion and the latest hair hack, you may seem pressured to post about these. Yes, it may get you some traffic but if you don’t necessarily like what you’re posting… why blog? I will post a review here and there because I want to and I think other people might want to see it. I post things for me, because I like them, not to get a certain amount of views in a day and I recommend you all do the same.
  2. Don’t stress- I’m all about trying to be consistent, it’s what readers like and it gets views. However, if I’m sick or had a long day or was out with friends, I’m not going to worry about my blog. Blogging can wait, your life can’t. I blog during downtime, on plane rides, in bed, etc. I make sure I love my life how I want to and make sure that blogging comes second. Make sure you do that as well.

I nominate

I have done this award quite a bit and I don’t want to nominate the same 10 people over and over. So, if you want to do this award, by all means, go for it. 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award

Hi everyone, the other day, I was nominated once again for the Blogger Recognition Award by Bea from BeaFree. Thank you so much for the award and definitely go check out her blog because not only does she have some amazing things to say, she is super consistent in posting (something I need to learn about). Anywho, let’s get started.

Rules:

* Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

* Write a post to show your award.

* Give a brief story of how your blog started.

* Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

* Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

* Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

I have been blogging since I was 14. I stumbled upon someone’s summer bucket list blog and I decided that I wanted to make one as well. Advice

The biggest piece of advice I have is to be social. Follow people, like people’s posts, comment on posts, etc. With all of my other blogs I never did that, however, with this blog, I like, comment, and follow so many people’s blogs and have met so many awesome people because of it.

Another thing is to be consistent. If you’re going to post like once a month people really won’t follow you or keep up with you. I’m not saying you have to post daily, but make a schedule and try to stick with it. Yes, there will be times that you won’t be able to maintain it, say during finals or vacations, but definitely try your hardest to stick to a schedule that is pretty frequent.

I nominate

Lauren           Jessica            Marcella               Katie            Ciarra

Alrighty, that’s all for this award, obviously if you ladies don’t want to make a post about this award, you don’t have to, it’s just something I think is very fun.

Who Am I Tag

Hi everyone, so I’ve seen a ton of people do this tag, and I’ve decided to do it as well, because who doesn’t want to know more about me? All jokes aside, this is actually a really cool tag because the questions aren’t “What’s your favorite color?” or “What’s your mom’s name?” but really intriguing questions. Let’s get started.

What is the meaning of my name?

There are a few different meanings of my name, but since I am predominantly German, I’m going to use the German meaning, which is sweet. I can be sweet sometimes, key word is sometimes.

What is my Myer-Briggs personality type?

My personality type is INTJ, also known as the architect. My %s are Introverted – 67%, Intuitive – 69%, Thinking – 86%, Judging – 60%, Turbulent – 94%. Almost no one believes that my introverted % should be that high (or be on the introverted scale at all) because when I’m around people I know and am comfortable with I’m super outgoing and I can talk A LOT, but I’m really awkward and anxious in new social situations so… I don’t know.

What is my Zodiac Sign?

I’m a Gemini (June 12th and don’t forget it… kidding) Everyone gives Geminis so much shit and I still have no idea why. I mean everyone thinks all Geminis have that double personality thing going or whatever (but who doesn’t have a double personality). Like I can really hit it off with someone and then I’ll be like “yeah I’m a Gemini” and all of a sudden they’re out the door. Obviously, this isn’t always but it has happened at least once, which it shouldn’t.

What is my Hogwarts House?

I took the quiz and I got a tie between Gryffindor and Slytherin… That makes 0 sense. I’m basically Draco and Hermione’s love child. I dig that

What are my learning styles?

I got a multimodal learning preference which basically means I can learn from any of the VARK methods. I did get the most for kinesthetic, but only by 1.

Am I right or left brain dominant?

I got equal. 44% left and 56% right, so I’m a little bit more right brained but not too much.

What is my Blood Type?

O positive. The Red Cross sends me emails like 5 times a day asking me to donate.

What career am I meant to have?

I GOT SOCIAL ACTIVIST AND I AM CACKLING THAT IS SO TRUE

Which Divergent Faction do I belong in?

Okay, I never read/watched any of the Divergent books/movies. Well I watched about 10 minutes of one and it reminded me too much of the Hunger Games (which I also didn’t like) so I have no idea what this means, but I got the Divergent faction.

What does my birth order say about me?

I’m the firstborn in my family and it basically says that I am a natural leader, ambitious, and responsible. I can be a leader when I have to, I am usually ambitious, and I’m pretty responsible (unless I have to make my own doctor appointments… no thanks)

Okay that was really fun, I learned a lot about myself through this and I hope you guys all learned something about me too. I am not going to tag people because I feel like everyone should do this, If you end up completing this tag, tag me in it or something because I want to know how similar/different we are!
