New music obsessions

Hi everyone and happy Saturday! Something you all probably know about me is that I have a love for music. From my seasonal mixtape posts, I really hope I’ve gotten this across. This spring I haven’t made a mixtape so instead I just decided that I would just share some artists and songs I’ve been loving recently.

Preface: I know that a lot of these are pretty basic and very Pop ish but I normally give more alternative recommendations and I thought I would switch it up a bit because a lot of my fave alternative artists haven’t released music in like 2725937 years so this is all I have to work with.

Avicii- I wasn’t going to include him on the list but since he passed away yesterday, I figured it was only right. I was never a HUGE fan of his music or anything, however, the song These Days is quite the bop and I am constantly listening to it because of how good it is. It’s a great jam and I love to play it at the gym as well because it’s very upbeat and I love the lyrics as well!

AJR- I actually just saw this band last week and I love them! I’d only heard 5 or 6 of their songs prior to this concert, but NOW let me tell you I’ve decided that I love ALL of their songs and have had them on repeat. Some songs that I recommend everyone listen to are: Weak. Sober Up, Burn the House Down, I’m not Famous, Call my Dad, Turning Ou (literally all of them ok give them a listen)

MAX- I also saw him this past week and I also LOVE HIM. Last I heard Max was a DJ after he escaped his Nickelodeon/ Disney channel past and was living a chill and rather unsuccessful life. I was even a little upset that he was performing Tuesday. However, his sparkly self ran, jumped, air-splitted. And toe touched all over the stage and I am IN LOVE. All of his songs have the best bass drops and I can honestly say he is better live than on Spotify. So if you give him a listen and enjoy yourselves. Go see him live and you’ll love him even more! Songs that I recommend: basement party, Lights down low (his most popular but I didn’t know it was him that sang it until the concert), One more weekend, and honestly any song of his with a gr8 bass drop.

Migos- I am not by any means a rap person and when I am, they’re songs from 2011 or earlier. I can go hard to any Ludacris song let me tell you. However, from the past 5 years… absolutely not a follower. Not that it’s bad but I just can’t get into any rappers or more than one song. I do like chance the rapper a bit but it’s a given since I’m from Chicago and I think you can be legally burned at the stake in Illinois by admitting your distaste for him as an artist. However, I have become a bit of a fan of Migos. I mainly like their 3 most popular songs BUT IM GETTING THERE. Songs I recommend; bad and Boujee, Stir fry, Walk it, talk it

Shawn Mendes- Now, out of all the Magcon guys from vine, Shawn Mendes was always the guy I hated the least. He was definitely the best looking and I didn’t really think he would vote for Donald Trump or be okay with the reinstatement of slavery so while I wasn’t crazy about the guy, I definitely revined whenever he did a cover of One Direction. Like 4 years later, after being discovered by Justin Bieber and then blowing up overnight, I’ve definitely become a fan of his. His two most recent releases., In my Blood and Lost in Japan are great songs if you ever need to cry or just know you aren’t alone… or both. I’d definitely recommend them both and they are a part of my “BOPS” playlist.

5 Seconds of Summer- As a die-hard One Direction fan, it is ONLY FAIR that I love and support 5 Seconds of Summer (a band that 1D took on tour multiple times and became besties with) as well. 5 seconds of summer isn’t ou typical boy band, because they welll… play instruments and they are damn good at it. I’ve been a fan of theirs since probably late 2014, early 2015 and maybe even before that. They hadn’t released new music since 2016 (which shouldn’t count because it was 1 song for the Ghostbusters movie soundtrack) so I and heir millions of other fans had waited long enough to get new music from them. And over the past few weeks, that is just what has happened. I am patiently awaiting their album release, but until then I have Want you Back and YOUNGBLOOD (album title) to listen to in anticipation.

What are some artists and songs I should listen to ???

5 tips for staying organized

Hi all and sorry for my long absence. I accidentally set up that double authentication and then couldn’t get access to the code so I couldn’t log on. However, I’m here now and have so much to share! Until I give a bit of a life update (which I also promised that month I think) here are some tips I have for staying organized in this hustle and bustle of finals.

  1. Get and use a planner! I love my planner and I keep it with me everywhere I go. I have a Plum Paper one and it has honestly changed my life. I write down every assignment, meeting, work shift, and workout I have so I know exactly when I can sleep, do homework, and have fun
  2. Make lists!!  (and then utilize them) Every single day I make a to-do list of items. Whether it be returning a t-shirt I bought, buying envelopes, printing something etc. I write everything down the night before and whatever I don’t get done becomes the first item on the list for the next day.
  3. Set aside time in your schedule to plan! Every single Sunday I give myself an hour or so to plan out my week. Do I have a group project meeting? Am I working out with someone at a certain time? Did I pick up someone’s shift at work? etc. I then plan when I can do homework, what homework I have to do, etc. so that I am ready for the week ahead and can have minimal stress in my life.
  4. Use the 8/8/8 method! 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work, 8 hours of play. This is soooo hard in college, however, I try my hardest. Some days there’s more play, some days there’s more work, and on the rare occasion (Sundays) there is more sleep. However, try to stick with this and it’ll help keep a solid routine.
  5. Give each class a color! I know this sounds very circa 2010 but it helps so much!!!! I use one notebook for all of my classes because I typically have 5 classes and use a 5 subject notebook so that works out but having a separate folder for everything (I also have one for important documents + homework) so that NOTHING ever gets lost.

April goals

Happy Monday and happy April everyone! I hope everyone had a great Easter (if you celebrate) weekend! I stayed on campus, and caught up on sleep and homework so it was very refreshing! Somehow, some way we are already ¼ of the way done with 2018. This year has absolutely flown by and I know it’s going to keep speeding by. It’s April, and that means another goals post! I love making these because I check up on them weekly to see how I’m doing and it helps me stay accountable. So, here are my goals for April.

  1. 120 oz of water daily- always on here, still important
  2. Get my body moving every day- also always on here, also still important
  3. Finish this semester with straight As- I won’t know until Mid-May, however, all of my assignments except 2 will be completed by April 30th so it’s an April goal
  4. Figure out my whole switch major/graduate early situation- ugh
  5. Go through my laptop files- I have a lot of crap on my laptop that I don’t need and with my laptop being almost 3 years old I need to keep it in tip-top shape.
  6. Finish CHAARG exec transition- I was elected the Treasurer of my CHAARG chapter for the next year and I have a ton of stuff to do for it!
  7. Don’t stress about presentations- I have a 50-minute presentation and a 30-minute presentation and I need to be calm because I stress myself out so much about them and it’s really not needed.
  8. Figure out my living/working situation for the fall- Am I going to be an RA or do I need to sublease?????? Also if I’m an RA I need to quit my current job and void my application for a job I’m in the application process for. We will see

What are your goals for this month?
